You can find your state insurance commissioner's office by looking at the "states and jurisdictions map" on www.naic.org, the website of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. If the agent's credentials impress you, make sure they are real. Contact the agency that awards the credential to make sure the advisor is in good standing and without any disciplinary actions.
