Finding FOREX Fundamentals in the News

Fundamentals most frequently come to the market as standing news releases by governments of each currency's countries and also from a number of specialized private enterprise services.

Most of this information is in the form of statistics, although minutes, meetings, and comments by the Federal Reserve Bank (USD) and its counterparts in other countries are also widely watched by traders. You will be quite amazed how quickly a market can digest and react to several pages of minutes! The reaction to raw statistical information is instantaneous.

Tip: You will need a good News Calendar to keep up with the never-ending release of reports for all the currency.

Key News Releases

You can see a complete listing of the scheduled news releases on any number of FOREX news calendars.

I listed several in The FOREX Marketplace.

My personal favorites are Forex Factory --, in which the level of anticipated importance of each release is given a color. The calendar also provides the previous number, anticipated number, and actual number, once released. Global-View -- -- is also a good source for FOREX news and an ongoing discussion of it in the forums.

Tip: By perusing a FOREX calendar for a single month, you can compile a nearly complete list of all standing news releases and their relative importance for all the currencies you intend to follow. Every FOREX trader knows that the first Friday of each month is when the USD nonfarm payroll report comes out.

Most brokers with the MetaTrader platform offer a newsfeed that may be seen in the Terminal Window.
