In international trading, markets were down as well. Across Asia, Japan’s Nikkei fell by 337 points while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng dropped by 161 points. In Europe, Germany’s DAX fell by 116 points, France’s CAC was down by 34 points, and London’s FTSE dropped 73 points. In Australia, the ASX was up by 15 points.

Walmart (WMT) Loses 10% on EarningsShares of Walmart (WMT) stock plunged on a poor earnings report today. The stock lost 6.70 points and fell by 10.04% on the disclosure. Walmart sales have been suffering overseas, and the consumer spending slowdown domestically hasn’t been helping either. Walmart stores have been having a tough year overseas, with China’s market collapse and problems across Europe. Sales haven’t been helped by the fact that the US dollar is strong relative to the yuan.
