Can Apple Counter the Falling PC Shipments?AAPL) is trying to grow its business and has taken many initiatives to increase sales of Apple's iMac. Apple has consistently added new features in a bid to win the market share and has further improved upon the iMac this time around by adding new Retina Display.
Apple recently updated its entire range of iMac with all new spectacular Retina 4K display to the 21.5-inch iMac and the Retina 5K display to the 27-inch iMac.
Apple’s 27-inched iMac has also become faster and more powerful than ever, as it comes with sixth-generation Intel Core processors and the latest AMD high-performance graphics that conveys up to 3.7 teraflops of compute power. Apple’s 21.5-inch iMac with 4K display comprises of Intel Core processor and improved Intel Iris Pro Graphics. Thunderbolt 2 ports provides up to 20Gbps data transfer speed for external drives. The three streams 802.11ac Wi-Fi permits iMac to access up to 1.3Gbps wireless networking.
With the use of new Retina displays, photos and videos becomes more enchanting and credible. The updated iMacs comprises of more powerful graphics and processors, two Thunderbolt 2 ports and new storage options. The new options of storage makes the high-performance Fusion Drive even more reasonably priced.
From the launching of first iMac till today, the essence of iMac has never faltered and still continues to deliver the ultimate desktop experience with the up-to-date technologies and cutting-edge designs.
Apple also introduced various wireless accessories including Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2. The Magic devices are restyled to feel more comfortable and are attached with rechargeable batteries that results in exclusion of disposable batteries. The new Magic Trackpad 2 offers an innovative Force Touch interface to the desktop, toting a new aspect to the iMac experience.
Fusion Drive associates the large storage with high performance of flash to provide shorter boot time and rapid access to files and applications. The absurd performance of Fusion Drive is now available with lower-priced configurations that pair a 1TB hard with 24GB of fast flash. Various other configurations like 2TB and 3TB of Fusion Drive are also available according to workloads.
While there no two ways about the fact that Apple has extensively upgraded its iMac collection, I believe there’s not much potential left in the PC industry. Worldwide PC shipments are falling consistently and are expected to drop further. Although adding new features may help Apple gain market share, but any gains will be offset by the fall in PC shipments.
