An individual or firm that can act as both an intermediary, charging customers a commission, or as a principal, transacting business for their own account in a financial market. A broker/dealer can work as either a broker or as a dealer. Nevertheless, they can be limited acting as both simultaneously depending on the exchange or market they are trading in.
