Also known as a cash settlement, a Cash delivery occurs when the asset or currency specified in a futures contract cannot be delivered, and the seller of the contract provides the value of the underlying asset in cash instead. Cash delivery in the event that the underlier cannot be delivered at the maturity of the contract is sometimes included as a requirement in the futures contract.
