An acronym for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and more recently, the CME Group. The CME Group is the world's second largest futures exchange and the largest in the United States. The CME Group came into existence after the Chicago Mercantile Exchange merged with the Chicago Board of Trade in 2007 and acquired the New York Mercantile Exchange in 2008.
