An exchange term describing the act of a broker acting as an agent for two different parties simultaneously buying and selling the same asset and executing both orders. The floor broker must offer and bid on the securities or futures contracts with the designated crowd before crossing the orders. In forex, a broker executing orders on the IMM might engage in crossing currency futures orders.
