Temporary trading restrictions imposed by an exchange to even out dramatic price swings of a Volatile Market. Curbs are typically triggered by a large drop in the broader market and may include a complete halt in trading. In some situations, the restrictions may prohibit program trading or limit acceptable trades to those placed only on an uptick. See Circuit Breaker; trading halt.
