currency futures option
A currency trade instrument that guarantees the exchange of one currency denomination for another at a stated rate of exchange on a specific future date. Used primarily by multinational companies to hedge against movements in foreign exchange rates that can adversely affect revenues generated from foreign markets. Also, used in speculative trading to capitalize on short term movements in the exchange rates.
