equity unit investment trust
An investment company formed for the sole purpose of establishing a professionally managed portfolio of equities that trades like a security on a stock exchange. The holdings within the portfolio are fixed at the time the UIT is established and do not vary except in rare circumstances. Compare to fixed income unit investment trust.
