European Economic and Monetary Union
The combination of member nations of the European Union into an economic system to succeed the European Monetary System. Perhaps the most significant and final stage of European Economic and Monetary Union was the introduction of the consolidated Euro currency that has now been adopted by a substantial majority of member nations, although Great Britain and Denmark opted out of participating in the Eurozone.
