A range that was used by the European Exchange Rate Mechanism system in order to keep currencies in a fixed range. The grid sets up how much one currency could fluctuate against another one. The grid was used extensively before the Euro was adopted in order to keep the various currencies within a reasonable range so that the Euro could be adopted.
