international reserves
Foreign Currency and other liquid assets such as gold that are held by a nation's central bank. International reserves might be used to intervene in the forex market by selling foreign currencies to defend the value of the Domestic Currency. The U.S. dollar is the predominant international reserve currency for historical reasons.
