market order
An instruction to buy or sell a security at the best ask or bid. The fill on a market order can vary dramatically from the price at which the security is trading at the time it is entered and the price at which the order is filled, depending on the number of shares available at the time it is received by the specialist or market maker. A market order generally cannot be cancelled. See slippage.
