program trading
A computer-based trading system that uses a set of programmable rules to places orders to buy or sell investments based on market behavior. Institutions use program trading to manage the large volume of assets they manage. less complex program trading software is also available for individual investors but is typically used by only sophisticated and experienced traders. Compare to black box trading.
