A location on an exchange's trading floor where local traders and brokers position themselves in a circular pattern to execute futures, options or stocks transactions with each other. An example of an active futures trading ring would be the U.S. Treasury bond Futures pit located on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade exchange. also called a pit.
