shooting star
A type of reversal candlestick that occurs on a candlestick chart when an asset trades above its open for much of a period in an overall up trend, but then quickly reverses and ends up down by the period's close. Forex traders can recognize a shooting star candlestick by looking for a short black candle that has a long upward wick.
