squawk box
A speaker usually placed on a professional forex market maker's Desk that is used by an Interbank Forex Broker to announce the current Dealing level of the spot price for a particular currency pair at their firm. For example, an Interbank forex broker for the USD/JPY currency pair might announce to various market makers via the broker's squawk boxes that the price in USD/JPY is 50 55, meaning that the current bid is 0.50 and the current offer 0.55, with the rest of the quotation usually only mentioned occasionally or when it changes.
