A chart pattern characterized by increasingly lower highs and higher lows. A symmetrical triangle resembles a pennant, but typically is of longer duration and gentler slope. Technicians view a symmetrical triangle as neutral indicator and will typically place orders on both sides of the formation and play the one that gets filled.
