trade weighted index
An indicator of the value of a nation's currency when compared to the value of a basket of currencies of other nations that it exchanges goods and services with. In a trade weighted index used in the forex market, like the U.S. dollar Index, each national currency in the basket is typically weighted by the amount of trade done with the assessed currency's nation.
