uncovered option
A net short position in a contract that confers the Right to buy or sell an underlying asset, without holding any position in the underlying asset to help offset potential losses. Instead of selling a uncovered option to put or sell a currency pair, longer term forex traders might sell a covered call or buy option against a long position in the underlying currency pair to obtain a similar risk profile.
