U.S. Treasury bills
Short-term U.S. government securities. T-Bills, as they are sometimes called, are sold at a discount to their face value and have maturity dates that range from a few days to six months. They can be purchased through a brokerage firm or directly from the Treasury Department at www.treasury.gov.
