Microsoft is negotiating with Apple (AAPL: Charts, News, Offers) for a potential deal that would replace Google (GOOG: Charts, News, Offers) with Microsoft's Bing as the new default search engine on the iPhone, according to BusinessWeek. If this arrangement came to fruition, Bing will have successfully edged out the world's most popular search engine for the top spot on the Apple iPhone. Over the years, Google has evolved into a direct competitor of Apple especially with its recent business decisions in the mobile device market. The launch of the Google Nexus One smart phone has added another opponent in Apple's battle royal for mobile device supremacy. The arrival of the Nexus One has practically forced Apple to view Google as a threat, if it had not already. As a result, Apple is seriously reconsidering its search engine alliance with Google.
