Business Booming at Siemens AG despite Corruption Investigation
Siemens secured the majority share of a $9.3 billion dollar deal to improve and maintain the non-military IT systems for the German armed forces on Thursday, along with partner IBM (IBM: Charts, News, Offers). The contract comes during a corruption investigation in which several current and former Siemens employees have been accused of being involved in "suspicious payments" totaling about $550 million and dating back to 1999. The investigation is serious enough to delay the launch of the company's Nokia (NOK: Charts, News, Offers) telecommunications partnership, which was originally set to launch in January.
