Intel- Chipping Away at the Competition
Excerpt from the InvestorGuide.com Stock of the Day on 10/14/2009

Intel beat Wall Street expectations with its third quarter performance. Most notably, the chip-manufacturer titan reported a 17% jump in overall sales. Intel is very optimistic that this recent spike in demand is a long term indicator for future growth. It also believes that it is more than capable of meeting the industry's projected 10% growth in personal computer sales. Although Intel is still not where it was a year ago, the company seems to be moving in the right direction. What exactly has Intel so confident about the quarters to come?

Intel hopes to open a new "window" to the future with Microsoft's (MSFT: Charts, News, Offers) release of Windows 7. The new personal computer operating system is generating a lot of consumer buzz, and the Intel Corporation is anticipating a significant boost in sales as a result, especially in the business segment. The computer chip manufacturer suspects that many companies that passed on the Windows Vista upgrade will now be ready for Windows 7. Intel, along with a majority of its competitors, is hoping that Windows 7 will provide the necessary spark in demand that the personal computer industry needs. However, Intel knows that Windows 7 is just one part of its formula for the future. More >

Is Intel's Rosy Earnings Hiding Thorns?
Excerpt from the InvestorGuide.com Stock of the Day on 10/15/2008

Sales across the board in all sorts of industries and sectors have been down. When a company like Intel reports even a glimmer of profitability, it bears new hope for the rest of the companies that have been battered by the financial tumult. Given that the economy is still rebuilding and very much in battle with a global recession how surprising is it to see Intel report positive earnings? In fact, what did Intel report in their most recent earnings statements and are investors just seeing the rosy earnings with neglect to thorns that may prick their fingers the minute they pick up Intel shares? Intel Earnings Increase 25% as AMD Prepares for Another Loss
Excerpt from the InvestorGuide.com Stock of the Day on 7/16/2008

Back in April, when Intel reported its earnings for the first quarter, it was a pretty unusual situation. The company posted a loss from the previous quarter, and mediocre earnings and sales, and yet investors reacted positively to the news. The positive reaction was largely attributed to the fact that the company could have done much worse, and the fact that they still did okay and remained optimistic about the future helped calm the company's investors. After the markets closed yesterday, investors were excited to hear that the second quarter brought a strong increase in profits, and that Intel's earnings are expected to be much better than its competitor, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD: Charts, News, Offers), set to report earnings tomorrow. How was Intel able to turn its performance around from last quarter, and how will it continue to change in the future? More >
